After the events on the Forerunner ringworld Halo, Master Chief SPARTAN-117 returns home to Earth with the AI construct Cortana. The war with the Covenant forces is still not going well, despite the destruction of an entire fleet at Halo, but the Master Chief needs a refit. Armed with the Mjolnir Armor Mark VI, he is on his way to a decorations ceremony with the thought-to-be-dead Sergeant Johnson, when Covenant forces emerge from the Slipstream into Earth space. But something is wrong: the fleet is much smaller than the one used to destroy Reach, humanity's former frontline stronghold. The Master Chief and Cortana, along with Commander Miranda Keyes and the crew of In Amber Clad, must fight off the Covenant and protect Earth, a battle that will take them across the galaxy to a new planet, which is disturbingly familiar…Meanwhile, the Prophets, leaders of the Covenant, are not pleased with the Elite Commander that allowed the Master Chief to destroy Halo, and he is branded a heretic. But even Heretics have their uses. He is to become the new Arbiter, a warrior for the Prophets' will, destined to die in glorious battle like all the other Arbiters before him. But deep in the Covenant, rumors are spreading about a Jiralhanae take-over. Can the Arbiter uncover this treachery in time to save the Elites? Master Chief must defend Earth from invading Covenant forces. Halo 2 is THE first person shooter.<br/><br/>Every aspect that makes any video game good, Bungie have taken and perfected it in their latest instalment of the Halo trilogy.<br/><br/>Halo 2 takes place… well, everywhere. While the first Halo game was mainly limited to one ring-shaped planet, Halo 2 has the player travelling from Earth, to a Halo, To a Forerunner facility to the Enemy Homeland. This is part of what makes this game the best first person shooter ever, that it is unlimited in it's settings.<br/><br/>Halo 2 has the player in the midst of exciting battles using imaginative weapons and following a brilliant storyline. Anyone who has read the 3 novels (soon to be 4) or will see the film will know of Halo's epic storyline about a genetically-enhanced soldier's journey to save humanity from a vicious enemy, who are fighting a Holy war against the human race.<br/><br/>The single-player campaign of Halo 2 isn't long, but is dramatic and intense. It is is no doubt an achievement in gaming visuals. Bungie obviously paid attention to making the environments beautiful in order to enhance game-play.<br/><br/>The main problems with todays first-person shooters is that they lack depth, they're shallow. They can create a situation in which you must fire a gun to kill an enemy but they can't give the player a good reason to kill the enemy. Halo 2, using it's poetic battles, artistic scenery and spectacular storyline, gives the player a strong intent to stop the covenant (human's enemy) and save humanity.<br/><br/>This video game has inspired tons of beautiful artwork, masses of elegant poetry and endless pages of intense fan fiction stories.<br/><br/>All this… from one video game? doesn't seem possible, does it? Play Halo 2. And find out for yourself.<br/><br/>But i'm not done yet, because if the campaign of Halo 2 is the turkey, it's multi-player is it's stuffing.<br/><br/>Halo 2's multi-player has up to sixteen players fighting amongst a creative landscape, with 18 weapons and 7 vehicles at their disposal. You can choose to fight on an island or a train station with a sword or a sniper. And with constant updates courtesy of Bungie, the multi-player only gets better! From the inspired campaign mode to the intense multi-player mode, there is several reasons why Halo 2 is the Best Game Ever…<br/><br/>…at least until Halo 3 releases :-) I might spoil the ending by accident, so watch out, but you won't be missing anything.<br/><br/>I hear people around me yelling stuff like, "Halo 2 is immaculate!" and, "Best game ever!"… I do not agree with these statements completely, but I do not deny that Halo 2 was an incredibly great game.<br/><br/>With beautiful levels and creatures, wonderful gameplay for an FPS game, and an amazing storyline (that never actually completes in the game), this game dazzled me, but I think it was overrated. <br/><br/>The ending is what killed this game. When I saw the ending, all I could say was, "What?… That's it?" I'm confronted with an absolutely extraordinary story, but then, it stops before my eyes before ending!<br/><br/>This could be a death sentence or a blessing from the gods. It could either mean that Halo will be a lost story and will never be completed, or it could be a prophecy foreseeing a third installation in this truly wonderful game series.<br/><br/>I only have 1 controller and I don't have X-Box Live, so I'm not exposed to the true greatness of Halo 2, but I've played these modes at friend's houses.<br/><br/>Back to my true subject, Halo 2 is greatly overrated when compared to the TRUE ultimate game… SUPER MARIO BROTHERS!
